Laxmiben Khristi Death – The Staten Island neighborhood of Dongan Hills is reeling after an elderly woman was fatally stabbed by her husband during a family gathering on Thursday night.
The shocking incident unfolded inside their Caramel Court apartment, where 87-year-old Laxmiben Khristi was killed in front of her family members.
Authorities reported that the argument began as a domestic dispute between the couple, escalating to violence when the 88-year-old husband grabbed a knife and stabbed his wife in the chest.
The family, unable to prevent the attack, called emergency services immediately. Despite efforts to save her, Laxmiben was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital shortly after her arrival.
Police apprehended the husband at the scene, and he remains in custody as charges are being prepared against him. The tragic death marks the first homicide recorded in the area’s 122nd Precinct this year, according to NYPD statistics.
The incident has left both the family and the community grappling with a mix of grief and disbelief. Friends and neighbors described the couple as a long-married pair who had lived in the area for decades. “It’s unimaginable that something like this could happen,” one neighbor said. “They seemed so peaceful.”
