CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An Iron Station man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the October 2024 murder of his girlfriend and her parents.
According to the Catawba County District Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Issac Nathaniel Christenbury was given the three consecutive life sentences without parole on Wednesday by Superior Court Judge Donald R. Cureton. Christenbury reportedly pleaded guilty earlier in the day to three counts of first-degree murder during Catawba County Superior Court.
Records show that on October 22, 2024, Christenbury shot and killed 28-year-old Jenna Cox and her parents, Charles Cox, 61, and Cyndi Cox, 61, at a residence on PJ McRee Road in Maiden. He allegedly killed the elder Coxes in front of their 10-year-old grandson and held the gun to the child’s head before letting him go.
The boy fled to a neighbor’s house after witnessing the shootings, and the neighbor made a 911 call to report what had happened.
Christenbury was previously in a relationship with Jenna Cox. At the time of the slayings, local law enforcement believed the motive stemmed from a dispute between the two.
