Woman Pleads Guilty in Case Linked to Matthew Perry’s Overdose
In a recent development, Jasveen Sangha, often referred to as the “Ketamine Queen,” has agreed to plead guilty in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry. This plea comes as part of a legal case that has drawn significant attention since Perry’s tragic overdose on October 28, 2023.
Sangha, 42, is now the fifth person to reach a plea agreement with federal prosecutors. She will plead guilty to five federal charges, including maintaining a drug-involved premises and distributing ketamine, the drug implicated in Perry’s death. Her lawyer stated that she is taking responsibility for her actions.
Federal authorities characterized Sangha as an active drug dealer, using the nickname “Ketamine Queen” frequently in official documents. She acknowledged selling four vials of ketamine to another individual just hours before that person also succumbed to an overdose in 2019.
As part of this agreement, prosecutors will dismiss three other charges regarding the distribution of ketamine and another unrelated drug charge. Sangha’s official guilty plea will be confirmed at a future court hearing, where a sentence of up to 45 years could be imposed, though prosecutors indicated they would seek a lesser penalty.
Sangha was one of the main subjects of an extensive investigation that resulted in multiple arrests related to Perry’s overdose. The investigation has revealed a troubling narrative of high-profile individuals engaging in dangerous drug transactions. Perry, known for his role in the iconic sitcom “Friends,” had several health battles, including addiction issues, dating back to his rise to fame.
It has been reported that Perry was using ketamine as an off-label treatment for depression, a practice that is becoming more commonplace. Unfortunately, he sought more of the drug than his doctor could legally prescribe. This led him to Sangha and others who were willing to fill that void.
Sangha’s lifestyle, as depicted on social media, showcased a glamorous world filled with affluent acquaintances. However, behind this façade, she was allegedly selling drugs to wealthy clients, contributing to a dangerous cycle that ultimately claimed Perry’s life.
Law enforcement officers raided Sangha’s residence a year ago, uncovering large quantities of both ketamine and methamphetamines. She has been in federal custody since then, facing serious charges while awaiting sentencing.
As the legal proceedings move forward, the case remains a reminder of the pressing issues surrounding drug abuse and the consequences that can arise from it, particularly within celebrity circles. The ongoing investigation and its outcomes highlight the urgent need for responsible practices and better support systems for addiction treatment.
