Lexington police have named the victim of a Lexington shooting as 40-year-old Maykel Farinas Carballo.
According to police, officers arrived to the area of Cypress Lane at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday in response to a verbal argument.
Police said Carballo died inside the vehicle as officers were conducting a preliminary investigation.
Police discovered many bullet holes in the windshield and front of the vehicle.
Authorities said they discovered tangible evidence at the location and interviewed witnesses.
Following the investigation, 33-year-old Aristh Rodriguez Linares was arrested for suspicion of 1st-Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle or Person. He is being held without bail in the Dawson County Jail pending arraignment.
The Lexington Police Department was assisted on scene by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, and the South-Central Area Law Enforcement Services. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
