Melanie Rachelle Dunahue Obituary, Death;- A woman lost her life early Wednesday morning on a Texas highway while attempting to rescue her dog. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident took place on southbound Interstate 35 East near Royal Lane shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
As per the sheriff’s office, the woman was walking her dog along the highway when the dog darted into traffic. In her effort to catch the dog, both were struck and killed by a vehicle.
The deceased woman was later identified as Melanie Rachelle Dunahue, according to WFAA. The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman and the dog remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officials. Following the accident, the southbound lanes of the highway were temporarily closed but were reopened in time for the morning commute.
