Michael Annett Death and Obituary – The racing world is mourning the loss of former NASCAR driver Michael Annett, who passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the age of 39. News of his death was shared by his former team, JR Motorsports, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and members of the motorsports community. While an official cause of death has not yet been released publicly, fellow driver Brad Keselowski remarked that Annett was “no longer suffering,” suggesting he had been dealing with health challenges before his passing.

Michael Annett’s career in NASCAR made a lasting impact across the sport’s three national touring series. Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, he grew up with a deep connection to competitive athletics and motorsports, eventually carving out a respected place for himself on the NASCAR circuit. His journey from local racing talent to national-level driver reflected a combination of determination, discipline, and resilience—traits that defined each chapter of his career.

Over the course of his time in NASCAR, Annett made a combined 436 starts across the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series. The Xfinity Series is where he found his greatest success and longevity. With 321 starts, Annett became a consistent and reliable competitor, earning his first and only national series victory at the prestigious season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway in 2019. That win became one of the most memorable highlights of his racing career, symbolizing his persistence and ability to perform under pressure on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Annett also competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, making 106 starts between 2014 and 2016. Though he did not record a Cup win, his presence in the series showed his readiness to take on the sport’s highest level and challenge himself against NASCAR’s top drivers. Earlier in his career, he also took part in the Truck Series, adding to his breadth of experience across all three national divisions.

His racing career came to an early end in 2021, when a stress fracture in his leg forced him to step away from competition. The injury sidelined him for part of the season and ultimately led to his retirement from full-time racing. Even after leaving the track, Annett remained respected among peers for his perseverance, sportsmanship, and steady contributions to the teams he represented.

Beyond his achievements on the track, Michael Annett is remembered for his professionalism, friendly nature, and dedication to his craft. Fans admired his resilience, and fellow drivers valued him as a committed competitor who brought determination to every race. As the racing community reflects on his life, his legacy is honored through the many moments he created and the impact he left on those who followed his career.

Michael Annett’s passing marks a heartbreaking loss for NASCAR, and tributes continue to highlight the meaningful role he played in the sport during his years behind the wheel.
