A mother has been charged after an incident at Brentwood High School in Long Island, New York, where she allegedly injured a teenager. The event occurred on August 12, during school dismissal.
According to police reports, 35-year-old Toni Monroe is accused of hitting 14-year-old Madison Evans multiple times with a metal water bottle. The altercation reportedly started when Evans exchanged words with Monroe’s daughter, who is 15 years old.
Witnesses say that Monroe struck the younger girl before a security guard intervened. Following the incident, Monroe was arrested in the school parking lot. Madison was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, but required 17 stitches for a cut on her forehead.
In a video of the incident, two girls can be seen arguing, and Monroe is reportedly heard instructing her daughter to “give me your Stanley,” before allegedly hitting Evans.
Madison described the situation, saying, “She threw a punch, I threw a punch back, and her mom just came in and started beating me with the cup.”
After her arrest, Monroe was charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. During her court appearance on August 13, her lawyer claimed she was at the school for a meeting regarding her daughter’s alleged bullying and stated that Monroe did not punch Evans, suggesting the teen attacked first.
Monroe was released under supervision and has been ordered to stay away from Madison.
Brentwood High School addressed the situation, affirming their commitment to student safety and stating that such behavior is unacceptable.
The situation has sparked significant community concern, highlighting the need for better conflict resolution and support for students.
