Mr. Jimmie Allen Creed, Sr., 89, of Elkin, formerly of Pratt Road in Ararat, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 20, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Creed was born November 20, 1935, in Surry County, one of eight children born to the late Lester Isaac and Lillie Mae Flippin Creed. Jimmie grew up in the Siloam community and graduated from Copeland High School in 1953. He dedicated 29 years of his career to Allied Systems, where he retired as a terminal manager. A man of unwavering faith, Jimmie committed his life to serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and sharing His word as a proud member of The Gideons International. He was also a devoted and faithful member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Jimmie was a loving and devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carlene, cherishing every moment they spent together. Their love was a testament to his kindness, faithfulness, and deep commitment to family. Above all, he found his greatest joy in spending time with his family – whether in prayer, laughter, or quiet moments of togetherness. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carlene Evans Creed; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Donna Creed and David and Shelley Creed; his grandchildren, Jacob and Allison Creed, Jessica and Craig Cooper, Marshall and Candace Creed, and Caleb and Sydney Creed; his great-grandchildren, Cylan Cooper, Emerson Simpson, Case Creed, Graylyn Creed, T.C. Simpson, Evan Cooper, Canaan Creed, Tyler Creed, and Wylder Phillips; two sisters, Jewel Coe and Lucy Fulk; a brother, Kenneth Creed; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by a grandson, T.C. Simpson; three sisters, Gladys Harvey, Mayola Posey, and Stella Hardy; and a brother, Curtis Creed. A service of worship and celebration of Jimmie’s life will be held Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Highland Park Baptist Church, with Dr. Darrell Tate, the Rev. Kenny Gunn, and Bill Wall officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Church Cemetery, under the direction of Dr. Jim Richland. The family will receive friends on Monday immediately following the interment at the Pine Hill Church Fellowship Hall. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of David and Shelley Creed in Ararat. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, Memorial Bible Program, P.O. Box 481, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
