LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Muldraugh, Kentucky police officer found himself on the wrong side of the jail bars.
According to an arrest report, Muldraugh Police Officer Jay Burke was arrested for allegedly being impaired while on duty. He was taken into custody by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police at the Muldraugh City Hall on Thursday.
The citation said Muldraugh Police Chief Timmy Jackson told investigators that he and Burke responded to a vandalism call together. That’s when he said he noticed alcohol on Burke’s breath. Jackson said he followed Burke to City Hall to investigate. He administered a portable breath test on Burke. He contacted KSP to conduct a certified test on the officer, which came back with a .09.
A KSP trooper from the Elizabethtown Post administered a field sobriety test. The arrest report said Burke failed five of eight tests.
Burke was charged with DUI and reckless driving. He was taken to the Meade County Detention Center and later released on his own recognizance. Burke is scheduled in court April 16.
