Omaha, NE – As Nebraska Democrats prepare to welcome former President Joe Biden at a gala in Omaha, Senator Pete Ricketts’ re-election campaign is raising questions about the true political leanings of his independent challenger, Dan Osborn.
Ricketts’ campaign is deploying mobile billboards that link Osborn to rising figures known for their socialist views, including New York City official Zohran Mamdani and Maine candidate Graham Platner.
“The Democratic Party’s ideas are unpopular in Nebraska, so they are trying to hide behind an ‘independent’ candidate,” said Will Coup, Senator Ricketts’ campaign spokesperson. “But Dan Osborn supports the same far-left policies.”
The billboards highlight the connection between Osborn and these figures, suggesting that Osborn is not a true independent but rather aligned with the Democratic Party’s more extreme elements.
The Ricketts campaign further pointed out that Osborn’s campaign shares staff with individuals who have worked for socialist candidates. They argue this illustrates a deeper connection to the Democratic Party’s left wing.
Senator Ricketts’ campaign believes it is important for Nebraskans to understand the political positions of all candidates, regardless of their stated party affiliation. They aim to show that Osborn’s policies are out of step with Nebraska’s values.
While Osborn is running as an Independent, the Nebraska Democratic Party has voiced their support for his campaign to unseat Ricketts.
