LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Norton Children’s revealed a new space for the families of sick children.
The Panda Cares Center of Hope provides a private and comforting space for families while their children receive care at Norton Children’s emergency department.
Families can get emotional, mental and spiritual support. A ribbon cutting was held Tuesday morning.
“Families are anxious when they come in,” said Rick Forest, chaplain and bereavement care coordinator at Norton Children’s. “They want to know what’s going on with my child and what are you going to do about it. And so we help deal with some of those pressures, those anxieties. They’re confused. They’re anxious. They’re compromised in many ways. And so we provide a comforting, calming place for them.”
Panda Express donated $400,000 to fund the center and support the teams working with families.
