The NYPD is asking the public for assistance in locating the parents or guardians of a young boy found wandering the streets of Queens, New York, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The child was discovered alone and barefoot outside a laundromat in Far Rockaway, and authorities are concerned about his well-being and how he ended up in that location.

    What Happened

At around 5:30 a.m. on October 7, 2025, surveillance footage showed a little boy running alone down Seagirt Boulevard in Far Rockaway, Queens. The child, estimated to be about 5 years old, appeared barefoot and was seen sprinting up and down the sidewalk before approaching a woman in the laundromat parking lot. A worker at the laundromat noticed the boy and brought him inside while calling the police.

When the police arrived, they took the boy to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed to be safe. The NYPD has since identified the child but continues to ask for help in locating his parents or guardians.

    Public and Social Media Reactions

The situation has shocked many in the community, with laundromat manager John Estevez expressing disbelief over the incident. “It’s very shocking that parents leave their kids on the street [and] don’t know where they are,” he said.

The boy has since been placed in the custody of the Administration for Children’s Services, while police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

    How You Can Help

If you have any information about the child’s parents or guardians, please contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the NYPD website or via direct message on Twitter at @NYPDTips. All calls will remain confidential.

    Closing Line:

Please share this message and stay vigilant. Your help could lead to the safe return of the boy to his family and ensure that those responsible for his abandonment are held accountable.
