With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Steve Blewett, affectionately known to many as “Blewy.” Steve passed away on October 7, 2024, at 63, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew him. A beloved figure in the Taunton community and formerly of Bridgwater, Steve was the kind of man who touched lives wherever he went, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Steve was a devoted husband to Jan, whose partnership brought him endless joy and love throughout their years together. As a father to Lee and a stepdad to Laura, Suzy, and Leanne, he was a constant source of support, guidance, and affection. His role as a grandad and great-grandad filled his heart with pride, and he was adored by his grandchildren, who will forever remember his caring nature and the special bond they shared. Steve’s family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love for them was evident in every interaction, whether it was a quiet moment of advice or a loud burst of laughter that filled the room.
Those who knew Steve will never forget his contagious laughter, a sound that could lift the spirits of anyone nearby. His laughter wasn’t just a reflection of joy; it was a reflection of the vibrant personality and genuine heart that defined him. Steve had an extraordinary ability to bring people together and thrived on his connections with others. His presence was comforting and uplifting, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Steve’s influence extended far beyond his family. He was a pillar of friendship and community, always willing to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. His steadfast support and unwavering loyalty to those he cared for earned him the respect and love of many. Friends, neighbors, and acquaintances alike will fondly recall the times spent with Steve, the stories shared, and the memories created in his company.
A memorial service will be held at Sedgemoor Crematorium on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at three o’clock in the afternoon to celebrate Steve’s life. It will be a time for family, friends, and all who knew him to come together, share stories, and reflect on the beautiful moments they experienced with him. By Steve’s wishes, flowers will be sent by the family only, and his loved ones ask that those attending focus on celebrating his life rather than the sadness of his passing.
As we honor Steve’s memory, we invite everyone who had the privilege of knowing him to join us in remembering the joy, laughter, and love he brought to the world. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for his family and friends. Though he may be gone, Steve’s influence, kindness, and laughter will never be forgotten, and he will continue to be a source of inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Rest in peace, Steve. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
