Two Arrested in Ohio After Pregnant Woman Found Dead
Authorities in Ohio have arrested two men after the tragic discovery of a pregnant woman, identified as Brittany Fuhr-Storms, found dead inside a plastic tote on a roadway.
The Jackson Township Police Department responded to calls about a deceased person on Fort Anthony Road on Sunday, August 3, around 7:47 p.m. Officers located the body of the 28-year-old woman, who was pregnant at the time of her death.
An autopsy confirmed that Brittany was pregnant, and sadly, her unborn child did not survive. Following the discovery, police secured the area and called in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, which began a detailed investigation.
Investigators traced Brittany’s last known address to Franklin and soon began a joint investigation with the Middletown Division of Police. They executed a search warrant at the home of one of the suspects, James Rothenbusch, where they discovered narcotics and other drug-related items. Rothenbusch reportedly confessed to police that Brittany died in his home under suspicious circumstances and admitted to keeping her body there for approximately four days before disposing of it.
Another suspect, Rick Sheppard, was arrested later. During questioning, he also acknowledged that Brittany had died in the home and her body was left there for nearly a week.
Rothenbusch now faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking specific to a pregnant woman, tampering with evidence, and gross abuse of a corpse. Sheppard is charged with gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
Both men were aware that Brittany was pregnant at the time of her death. Reports indicate her body had been left in the shower for several days prior to its discovery.
The community is in shock and mourning over this tragic event, with Brittany’s family seeking support for a memorial service through a fundraising effort set up by her twin brother’s wife. She described Brittany as deeply loved, and the news of her death has been devastating for the family.
Local authorities continue to investigate this case, aiming to bring justice for Brittany and her unborn child.
