DDG Claims He Was Victim of Swatting Incident
Popular YouTube star and rapper DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., reported an alleged swatting incident over the weekend in California. The 27-year-old took to YouTube on August 11 to share a video showing himself surrounded by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department while he was at a paintball tournament in Castaic.
In the video, DDG is seen being placed in handcuffs and escorted to a police vehicle. He later had the cuffs removed. During the incident, he asked the deputies why he was being detained, but he claims they did not respond.
A spokesperson from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department indicated that they had no information about the incident, and any details would need to come from the Santa Clarita station.
DDG described the scene in his YouTube broadcast titled “I ALMOST D*ED TODAY.” He recounted how deputies quickly instructed him to raise his hands, saying there was no explanation for their actions. He expressed that the moment felt surreal, especially as he had just consumed marijuana prior to the encounter.
Eventually, DDG was released without any charges, and he believes he was a target of swatting, where someone falsely reports an emergency to provoke a police response. Details about what triggered the deputies to respond remain unclear.
In other news regarding DDG, back in May 2025, his ex-partner Halle Bailey was granted a restraining order against him after making allegations of abuse. Bailey was also awarded custody of their child, Halo.
