Rashawn Cannon Obituary, Death; – The inmate alleged to have murdered a correctional officer at the Ross County Correctional Institution has been named.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified Rashawn Cannon, a 27-year-old from Lima, as the individual accused of killing Andrew Lansing on Christmas Day. Cannon had been sentenced on September 28, 2023, for the assault of a woman with a firearm and was serving a minimum prison term of eight years, as reported by LimaOhio.com.
Court records indicate that he was found guilty of felonious assault and possessing weapons while under disability. Officer Lansing is remembered fondly by his colleagues for his dedication and professionalism. He began his tenure at the Ross Correctional Institution in January 1994, worked there until 2007, and returned in March 2013.
Following the incident, Cannon was moved to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.
