It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Raymond Webb Crosby, age 41, of Roachdale, Indiana. Raymond passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024. His untimely departure has left a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and the entire community.
Raymond was born on July 20, 1983, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Stephen R. and Rachel A. (Webb) Crosby. He grew up in Roachdale and was a beloved member of his community. Raymond graduated from North Putnam High School in 2002 and went on to pursue his education at Lakeland College, where he earned an associate degree. Raymond’s leadership skills and commitment to his peers were evident during his time at Lakeland, where he proudly served as the Student Trustee.
On January 2, 2010, Raymond married the love of his life, Cheryl R. Mitchel. Their 14 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters, Addison R. Crosby, Raylee L. Crosby, and Olivia G. Crosby. Raymond was a devoted father who cherished every moment spent with his girls. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he took great pride in being a husband, father, and role model to his children.
Raymond was known for his adventurous spirit and “go big or go home” attitude. He loved the outdoors and had a deep passion for hunting and gardening. Raymond found peace and joy in nature, often spending his free time outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of the world he loved. His gardening skills were unmatched, and his family and friends were often the lucky recipients of his bountiful harvests. Raymond was also an exceptional cook, known for spoiling his family with fine dining and delicious meals. His ability to bring people together through food was a reflection of his generous heart and his desire to make those around him feel loved and appreciated.
One of the most cherished relationships in Raymond’s life was the bond he shared with his twin brother, Kyle Crosby. Their brotherly connection was unparalleled, and they shared a deep friendship and mutual respect. Kyle and Raymond’s closeness was a testament to the strength of family, and they supported one another through thick and thin. Raymond’s passing leaves a heartache that will be felt deeply by Kyle, as well as by his sister, Renee M. Fry, and her husband Sam.
Raymond was a man of great integrity and strength, with a heart full of love for his family and friends. He was always the first to offer help, to lend an ear, or to share his laughter. Raymond’s positive energy, sense of humor, and infectious smile made him a joy to be around, and he had the unique ability to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. His presence was truly a gift to all who knew him.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl R. Crosby, and their three daughters, Addison, Raylee, and Olivia. He is also survived by his twin brother, Kyle Crosby (Lindsey); his sister, Renee M. Fry (Sam); and his parents, Stephen R. and Rachel A. Crosby. Raymond was also deeply loved by his in-laws, Julie and Greg Mitchel, and his brothers-in-law, Steven Mitchel (Paxton) and Luke Mitchel (Gabrielle Harding), as well as his niece, Harlee Mitchel, and nephew, Wade Mitchel.
Raymond was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clifford and Ruth Crosby, and his maternal grandfather, Tom Webb. Though Raymond’s passing leaves an irreplaceable gap in the hearts of all who loved him, his legacy will live on in the lives of his children, his family, and all those he touched with his kindness, laughter, and generosity.
