Allison Mack, known for her role in “Smallville,” has recently spoken out about her involvement with Keith Raniere, the leader of the NXIVM cult.
In a new podcast series, “Allison After NXIVM,” Mack describes how Raniere manipulated her into believing that a physical relationship was necessary for her personal healing.
Keith Raniere, who presented himself as a self-improvement guru, was convicted in 2020 on multiple serious charges, including sex trafficking and forced labor conspiracy. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison. His organization, NXIVM, had attracted a following that included wealthy individuals and actresses.
Mack explained that after confiding in a friend about her struggles with her sexuality, she was encouraged to seek guidance from Raniere. According to Mack, Raniere convinced her that physical intimacy was essential to address her issues.
Mack stated that Raniere told her that he could only help her through physical intimacy, claiming it was an “experiential problem.”
Mack said that she found some comfort in believing that Raniere, as her teacher, was helping her through a form of “energy work.”
Allison Mack was released from prison early in 2023, after serving two years of a three-year sentence for racketeering and conspiracy charges related to her involvement in NXIVM.
Mack’s cooperation with federal authorities in the case against Raniere helped to reduce her prison sentence. She provided details about Raniere’s organization, including how he branded women with his initials and forced them into sexual relationships.
Before her sentencing, Mack expressed remorse and guilt for her actions, stating that she regretted the decisions she had made.
