Tiger Woods has announced the passing of his mother, Kultida Woods. The 49-year-old golfer shared the news in an emotional statement on social media, describing her as his “biggest fan” and crediting her for his success.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” Woods wrote on X.
“She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter—without her, none of my personal achievements would have been possible.
“She was loved by so many, especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers, and privacy during this difficult time for me and my family. Love you, Mom.”
Woods has previously shared that his mother influenced his tradition of wearing red on the final day of major tournaments. As a junior golfer, she encouraged him to wear the color, believing it to be a source of strength for him as a Capricorn.
Today, Woods continues the tradition with his own apparel line, Sun Day Red. Kultida was also a constant presence at his tournaments, including at Augusta in 2019, when he secured his 15th major title. She was also there in 2022 when Woods made an emotional return to professional golf after a nearly two-year hiatus following a serious car accident.
