Trump Supports Black Border Wall Initiative
President Donald Trump recently expressed strong support for a new initiative by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to paint the entire southern border wall black. He stated that this change would enhance the wall’s effectiveness and make it a formidable barrier against illegal immigration.
During a press briefing in the Oval Office, Trump remarked, “I didn’t even know she was listening” when he suggested that painting the wall black would help. He shared how he appreciated the transformation, noting, “When that paint went on, it looked beautiful. It’s hot. If it’s black, it’s going to be very hard to climb.”
The president emphasized that the wall is constructed from high-quality steel, reinforced with thick rebar and heavy concrete, making it durable and effective. Noem highlighted that the decision to paint the wall black aligns with the administration’s goal to deter illegal crossings. By absorbing more heat, the black paint makes it uncomfortable to climb and helps to prevent rusting.
In Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Noem detailed the plan, explaining that the change came at Trump’s direction. She noted that the project received significant funding from a recent Congressional bill, allowing the construction of the wall to progress at an impressive rate of half a mile per day.
“We are painting the entire southern border wall black to encourage individuals to abide by our immigration laws,” Noem stated, emphasizing the importance of legal entry into the United States. She added that her goal is to keep the door open for those who wish to pursue the American dream legally.
Trump fondly recalled his suggestion to Noem about the wall’s paint job, reminiscing about their conversation where he emphasized the benefits of a black finish. He maintained that it would not only enhance aesthetic appeal but also serve a functional purpose.
As the conversation continued, he joked with Noem about the paint job, asking if it would require one coat or two, to which she confirmed it would only need one. Trump quipped, “The two-coat job will take place in three years.”
Both leaders seem committed to ensuring border security through innovative strategies aimed at deterring illegal immigration while promoting lawful processes.
