When Will You Receive Your November Social Security Payments? Here’s What You Need to Know

As we approach the end of October, it’s time to check your calendar for when you’ll receive your November Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. However, if you’re an SSI beneficiary, you’ll notice that November payments are slightly different this year.

No SSI Payment on November 1st, But Don’t Worry

If you’re receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), November 1st won’t bring your usual payment. In fact, SSI beneficiaries won’t receive any payments for the month of November. But don’t worry—you’ll still get your payment; it’s just being disbursed a bit earlier.

SSI is available to individuals with disabilities and older adults who have limited income. In 2025, the maximum monthly SSI payment is $967 for an individual and $1,450 for a couple.

Why the Delay in November Payments?

Normally, SSI payments are sent out on the first of the month. However, because November 1st falls on a Saturday this year, no payments will be processed on that day. Instead, SSI payments for November will be sent out on Friday, October 31st—the last business day of the month.

Other Months Affected by Weekend or Holiday Dates

This isn’t the first time SSI payments have been shifted due to a weekend or holiday. Other months this year that were impacted include March, June, and September, when the first day of the month fell on a weekend.

For instance, when February 1st landed on a Saturday, January 31st saw the February payment distributed. The same happened in March when March 1st fell on a Saturday.

But November is a bit different. December 1st falls on a Monday, so there won’t be any change in the December payment. However, due to New Year’s Day (January 1st, 2026) falling on a holiday, SSI recipients will receive January 2026’s payment on December 31st.

Regular Social Security Payments in November

For those receiving Social Security payments (not SSI), your payments will be processed as usual. Here’s the schedule for November Social Security payments:

    • November 3rd: Benefits for individuals who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 or those who receive both Social Security and SSI.
    • November 12th: Benefits for those whose birthday is between 1st and 10th.
    • November 19th: Benefits for those whose birthday is between 11th and 20th.
    • November 26th: Benefits for those whose birthday is between 21st and 31st.

    What About the Government Shutdown?

Thankfully, Social Security and SSI payments are not interrupted by the ongoing government shutdown. However, the shutdown did cause a slight delay in the announcement of the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2026. The increase was confirmed at 2.8%, and the first payment to reflect the COLA adjustment will be disbursed on December 31st, which will technically be January 2026’s payment.

    Key Takeaways:

    • SSI beneficiaries: No payments on November 1st—you will receive them on October 31st instead.
    • Social Security recipients: Regular schedule for payments based on birth date.
    • Government Shutdown Impact: No interruptions to payments, but COLA increase confirmed for 2026.

If you’re an SSI or Social Security recipient, it’s important to stay aware of these payment shifts to avoid any confusion. Keep in mind that the government shutdown has not affected your benefits, so you’ll still receive the funds you are entitled to.
