Tragic Incident in Arkansas: Family Hiked, But Only One Returned

In a heartbreaking event, Cristen and Clinton Brink lost their lives while hiking at Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas. The couple was enjoying a day out with their two daughters, aged 7 and 9, when a tragic stabbing took place on July 26.

Authorities report that 28-year-old Andrew James McGann stabbed Clinton Brink, 43. In a frantic attempt to protect their daughters, Cristen, 41, quickly guided them to safety. Major Stacie Rhoads from the Arkansas State Police confirmed that Cristen did not lead the girls all the way back to their vehicle. Instead, she made the brave choice to return and help her husband.

Sadly, both Cristen and Clinton suffered serious injuries and did not survive the attack.

After a five-day search, McGann was apprehended at a barbershop in Springdale while getting a haircut. He has been charged with two counts of capital murder.

Investigation officials have noted that McGann and the Brink family had no prior connection, indicating that the attack appeared to be completely random. The Brink family had recently moved to Prairie Grove, and thankfully, their daughters remain unharmed and are now being cared for by relatives.

Before this incident, McGann had relocated to Arkansas from another state and was set to begin work as a teacher, though he had not yet started classes. Authorities are still looking into the motive behind this crime, with no signs of warning leading up to the tragic event.
