New York State Police have located 17-year-old Matthew Haass safely after troopers conducted an active search in the Town of LaGrange.
Police had been seeking Haass and asked the public to report any sightings or information about his whereabouts.
Authorities said there was no immediate threat to the general public during the search, although residents and motorists in the area could expect a heightened police presence as troopers worked to locate him.
An earlier police description said Haass was approximately 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighed about 125 pounds. He was last reported wearing black shorts and socks.
State police initially asked anyone who saw Haass or had information about his whereabouts to call 911.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and how he was located were not immediately provided in the update.
