In light of the recent violent incident involving a former employee of the cryptocurrency platform DOGE, known as “Big Balls,” President Donald Trump has expressed a strong desire to take more decisive action to address the growing crime problem in Washington, D.C. This comes after the individual was severely beaten by gang members on the streets.
During a press conference, Trump remarked on the alarming levels of crime in the nation’s capital. “We’re looking into it because the crime is outrageous,” he stated, emphasizing that D.C. requires urgent attention to restore safety and cleanliness.
The President highlighted the need for a visible law enforcement presence, mentioning that he is considering the involvement of the National Guard to help control the violence. “The shocking rates of muggings and killings are unacceptable. We cannot ignore this any longer,” Trump asserted.
He also referenced the attack on Edward Coristine, noting the serious nature of the violence. Trump conveyed his concern for Coristine’s well-being after reaching out to him personally, promising further communication. “This kind of violence has to stop, and we’re going to take steps to change it,” he added.
When asked about the potential for federal oversight over Washington, D.C., including revisiting the District of Columbia Home Rule Act—which grants a certain level of self-governance—Trump indicated that his legal team is already reviewing it. He emphasized, “D.C. has the potential to be the best-run city in the nation, and we will ensure its safety and beauty.”
In closing, Trump reiterated the need for proactive measures to safeguard residents and restore order in Washington, D.C. “People should be able to walk the streets without fear of crime. This situation must be resolved,” he concluded.
