A football player from Louisiana State University (LSU) surrendered to campus police on August 8. This came after a warrant was issued for his arrest linked to two murder suspects who had allegedly stayed in his dorm room.

Running back JT Lindsey turned himself in early that Friday and has since been suspended from the LSU football team, according to reports from local news outlets.

The two suspects, 17-year-old Shemell Jacobs and 18-year-old Keldrick Jordan, were arrested on August 4 by the U.S. Marshals Service while in Lindsey’s dorm. They are wanted for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 17-year-old boy in Alexandria, Louisiana, last May.

Lindsey’s attorney, Kris Perret, stated that his client did not know that Jacobs and Jordan were wanted for murder during their stay at his apartment. A team spokesperson confirmed that Lindsey is suspended from team activities, emphasizing their respect for the current legal process.

Reports indicate that authorities found several weapons in the dorm where Jacobs and Jordan were held, including two AR-15 rifles and a Glock. In his defense, Lindsey’s lawyer said the player is adamant about his innocence, claiming he had no idea the individuals were involved in any crimes.

However, the arrest warrant suggested that Lindsey may have been aware of his friends’ fugitive status and that he “knowingly harbored and aided” them. He faces two felony charges related to being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

Lindsey is regarded as one of the top running back recruits in the nation, ranked highly by recruiting services.
