Authorities Search for Two Missing Children in Los Angeles County
Authorities are seeking public assistance in the case of two children who have gone missing in California. The children, Aastha Vides, 8, and Juaquin Vides Jr., 11, were last spotted with their father, Juaquin Vides Sr., on August 8th around 6 p.m. on W. 88th Street in Los Angeles.
On August 15th, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) announced that this is considered a case of “parental abduction.” The father, 35, is described as “deaf/mute” and has been named a suspect in this situation.
The children were last known to be traveling in a green 2012 Mazda2 with the California license plate 9DRV087. Another suspect, a 53-year-old woman named Sylvia Gonzalez, has also been seen driving the vehicle, although her exact relationship with the children and their father is not clear.
Authorities believe they may be headed towards San Jose. The family is very concerned for the well-being of the children and is urging anyone who has information to come forward.
Juaquin Jr. is approximately 3 feet 8 inches tall and weighs around 49 pounds, while Aastha is about 3 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds. Both children have black hair and brown eyes. Notably, Aastha has a birthmark on her left foot.
In terms of clothing, Juaquin Jr. was last seen in a blue T-shirt with a yellow stripe, and Aastha was wearing a green T-shirt adorned with white flowers.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the LASD at (323) 820-6700. The community’s help is vital in bringing Aastha and Juaquin home safely.
