Hegseth Hosts Military Meeting in VA

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called for a gathering of top military brass at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia next week. The meeting will include numerous U.S. generals and admirals, along with key members of their staff.

The Pentagon chief has requested the presence of nearly all active-duty generals and admirals, specifically those holding ranks from O-7 to O-10. Top-level non-commissioned officers will also be in attendance, serving as advisors.

The assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30th. The Pentagon confirmed that Secretary Hegseth plans to address the assembled military leaders, although the specific reason for the meeting remains undisclosed.

According to a retired senior officer who spoke to reporters, this type of large-scale meeting is unusual. He noted that it is rare to bring together such a large number of high-ranking military officials, including brigadier generals and officers of higher rank, from both domestic and international posts.

News reports indicate that commanders from conflict zones, as well as those stationed in Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region, are expected to attend. However, the order apparently does not apply to officers serving in staff positions.

This announcement follows a series of significant actions taken by Secretary Hegseth, including the removal of high-ranking officials from the Navy and Air Force, the replacement of top legal officers in the Army, and the implementation of a plan to reduce the number of senior generals and admirals by 10%.

These changes are understood to be part of an ongoing effort to better align the military with President Trump’s national security agenda. This includes the recent decision to rename the Department of Defense (DoD) as the “Department of War” (DoW), which is seen as giving the agency a stronger focus on military readiness.

Additionally, President Trump recently encouraged the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to take a more assertive role in defending Ukraine. He suggested the alliance should consider using its resources directly to counter Russian advances. He proposed that the United States could sell arms to NATO members, who could then transfer them to Ukraine, instead of directly sending equipment from U.S. arsenals.

“We are sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is 100% funding them,” the President stated.

President Trump made these comments during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, just a day after the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, stated at his first Security Council session that the United States remains committed to defending “every inch” of NATO territory.

These developments suggest a strong commitment to bolstering national defense and ensuring that the military is effectively aligned with the President’s strategic vision. The upcoming meeting at Quantico is expected to provide further insights into the direction of the Department of War under Secretary Hegseth’s leadership. It is hoped that this meeting will ensure that America will remain safe and that the armed forces will remain ready and effective in defending freedom around the world.
