Jeffrey Taiwan Eutsay, the suspect in the murder of 70-year-old Charlie Creech behind a Chevron gas station in Augusta, Georgia, is now in custody. Authorities announced the arrest on Wednesday morning, following the discovery of Creech’s body on Tuesday.

    What Happened

At around 2:04 p.m. on Tuesday, Richmond County deputies found the body of Charlie Creech behind the Chevron gas station located at the corner of 15th Street and Laney Walker Boulevard. Creech, believed to have been homeless, was found covered with leaves and a blanket. Store surveillance footage showed Eutsay gathering leaves and covering the victim’s body in the hours before the body was discovered.

Eutsay, 43, was arrested after a murder warrant was issued for him. He is accused of killing Creech, a fellow homeless man. Eutsay had been released from prison just three weeks ago after serving six years of a 10-year sentence for stabbing another man. Authorities have now confirmed that he is in custody, and he will meet with investigators before being booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
