A College Hill man, Anderson Jackson, has been arrested after leaving three young children alone in his apartment to avoid being arrested by Cincinnati Police. Jackson, 37, was taken into custody over the weekend on multiple charges, including obstruction, child endangering, and a domestic violence warrant.
What Happened
On a welfare check last May, Cincinnati Police and Job and Family Services (JFS) arrived at Anderson Jackson’s apartment on Llanfair Avenue. According to court documents, Jackson admitted that he did not open the door to law enforcement because he was aware of an outstanding domestic violence warrant for his arrest. Fearing arrest, he allegedly refused to let them in and then fled through a back window.
After Jackson fled the scene, officers forced their way into the apartment, where they discovered the three children, ages two, three, and four, left alone in unsanitary conditions. The children were covered in urine, and the bathtub was filled with water, posing a drowning hazard.
Child Endangerment Charges
As a result of the conditions in the apartment, the children were taken into custody by JFS. Jackson’s actions have led to charges of child endangerment, as well as obstruction, for evading the police.
Jackson’s Arrest
Jackson was arrested later over the weekend and is facing serious charges. He is also still facing the original domestic violence warrant. Authorities have emphasized the dangerous and negligent behavior exhibited by Jackson in leaving the children alone in such a hazardous environment.
