Milly Asencio Summerville Car Accident – The Summerville community is mourning the loss of 25-year-old Milly Asencio, who tragically died in a car accident early Friday morning, October 17, 2025, in Berkeley County, South Carolina. Authorities confirmed that the fatal collision occurred when Asencio, a pedestrian, was struck by a 2018 Jeep Wrangler while walking along Jedburg Road, just west of Summerville.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), the incident happened around 2:37 a.m. near the intersection of Jedburg Road and My Lane, approximately three miles from downtown Summerville. Emergency services responded promptly, but despite their efforts, Asencio was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, led by Coroner Darnell Hartwell, later identified the victim as Milly Asencio. Officials stated that next of kin have been notified, and the community has expressed deep sympathy and condolences to her family and loved ones during this devastating time.

Preliminary reports indicate that Asencio was walking along the roadway when she was struck by the Jeep Wrangler traveling along Jedburg Road. The driver of the vehicle, whose name has not yet been released, was not injured in the crash. No additional passengers were reported in the vehicle.

Authorities have not released details regarding possible contributing factors such as lighting conditions, weather, or driver impairment at the time of the accident. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine what led to the tragedy.

Jedburg Road, a semi-rural stretch that connects Summerville to Interstate 26, is known for limited street lighting and high overnight traffic, which can create dangerous conditions for pedestrians. Local residents have often expressed concerns about pedestrian safety along this route, citing the need for improved lighting, sidewalks, and speed enforcement.

Asencio’s passing has left a void in the Summerville community, where she was known as a kind and hard-working young woman with a bright future ahead. Friends and family have taken to social media to share heartfelt tributes, describing her as compassionate, full of life, and loved by everyone who knew her.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office will conduct a full investigation, including toxicology testing as part of standard procedure in fatal accidents. Meanwhile, authorities are urging all drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant, particularly during nighttime hours when visibility is low.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has additional information is encouraged to contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol or Crimestoppers of the Lowcountry.

This tragic loss serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and awareness for both drivers and pedestrians alike.
