The Apopka, Florida community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of three teens, Enrique Rodriguez Sabas, Julio Lopez, and Leyner Velasquez, who tragically lost their lives in a rollover accident early on the morning of November 9, 2025. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has identified the deceased and is investigating the cause of the accident that left the community in sorrow.

What Happened / Details of the Incident:

The tragic accident occurred around 1:35 a.m. near the intersection of E. Welch Road and Wekiwa Drive. The young individuals, aged 13 to 17, were passengers in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado carrying a total of six boys. The truck was traveling east on E. Welch Road when the 17-year-old driver lost control while approaching a curve. The vehicle left the road, collided with a tree, and rolled over.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Rodriguez Sabas, Lopez, and Velasquez sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers, aged 14 and 15, were transported to the hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

    Investigation and Safety Concerns:

The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation is ongoing, and authorities have noted that only two of the six individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The tragic loss of these young lives serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vehicle safety, particularly the use of seatbelts, and the vulnerability of young drivers and passengers.

    Community Impact and Tributes:

The deaths of Enrique Rodriguez Sabas, Julio Lopez, and Leyner Velasquez have left a significant void in the Apopka community. Family, friends, and classmates are mourning the loss of three promising young lives. Heartfelt tributes have poured in from across the community, with many remembering the teens for their kindness, enthusiasm, and potential.

    Closing:

As the investigation continues, the families of the deceased and the community at large are grieving this tragic loss. Thoughts and prayers are with the families of the young victims as they cope with the unimaginable pain of their sudden departure. This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of making safe choices, especially on the road.
