Baldwin, Long Island, New York ➤ Easton, Pennsylvania | 1996

On March 19, 1996, a young girl named Richezza Williams, just 13 years old, made the fateful decision to run away from her home in Baldwin, Long Island. What should have been a search for freedom and hope turned into a nightmare that ultimately claimed her life. This is the haunting story of a young girl’s tragic end, her suffering at the hands of those she trusted, and the search for justice that continues to this day.

    What Happened to Richezza Williams?

Richezza Williams, at just 13, ran away from her Long Island home, hoping to start fresh in a new place. She took on a false identity, calling herself Materon Buffy Smith, and eventually made her way to Easton, Pennsylvania, where she sought solace and safety. However, what awaited her in Easton was nothing short of a horrific fate.

According to the FBI, Richezza was accused of stealing drugs by three men—Corey “Lemon” Maeweather (19), Stanley “Wildman” Obas (18), and Kwame Henry (20). On July 28, 1996, they abducted her and dragged her into the basement of a home in Easton. There, they subjected her to unimaginable torture. Screams filled the night air, but soon, they stopped altogether.

The young girl’s body was discarded, stuffed into a box, and left to decompose in the vault of a cemetery. On August 10, 1996, Richezza’s remains were discovered, mutilated beyond recognition. Dental records confirmed that the girl found was Richezza Williams, a runaway from Baldwin, Long Island.

The Investigation and the Search for Justice

Witnesses came forward, revealing chilling details. One witness described hearing Richezza’s screams on the night she was tortured and killed. Along with Richezza, another young girl had also been subjected to brutal violence by the same men, who used knives and heated wire hangers to keep their victims quiet.

Thanks to DNA evidence from a piece of gum left at the scene, Corey Maeweather was identified as a suspect in Richezza’s murder. Maeweather, however, implicated Kwame Henry, calling him the leader of the group. Henry was eventually apprehended in Trinidad in 1998, but the search for justice did not end there. Stanley “Wildman” Obas, the third man responsible for this heinous crime, remains at large.

The Hunt for Stanley “Wildman” Obas

Stanley Obas, the final fugitive in this tragic case, is still wanted by the FBI. Despite the passage of time, the search for him continues, as authorities are determined to bring him to justice for his role in the brutal murder of Richezza Williams. The case remains open, and the FBI is urging anyone who may have information about Obas’s whereabouts to come forward.

If you have seen Stanley Obas or know anything about his whereabouts, you are encouraged to contact the FBI immediately at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).

    Public and Social Media Reactions

The story of Richezza Williams’s death has sparked an outpouring of support from the public, particularly those who remember her as a young girl with dreams that were tragically shattered. Communities across the nation are calling for justice, and her case remains a poignant reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable children and seeking justice for those who are wronged.

Her family, friends, and advocates continue to fight for justice, determined to ensure that Richezza’s death does not go unpunished. On social media, people share her story, hoping that the power of information and community can lead to the arrest of Stanley Obas and bring closure to a case that has haunted so many for nearly three decades.

    What Happens Next

The FBI remains committed to solving this case and bringing all of Richezza’s killers to justice. As the investigation continues, they urge anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward. Every detail, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help bring justice to Richezza and peace to the family and community she left behind.
