Greensboro is reeling after the tragic shooting death of 40-year-old Delorean Nickerson, known to many as “Abg Reddevil,” on Wednesday, Nov. 26. What should have been an ordinary evening at a home on the 1700 block of Rainbow Drive turned into a heartbreak neither family nor neighbors will soon forget.

Authorities with the Greensboro Police Department responded just after 5:00 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When first responders arrived, they found Nickerson suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Despite efforts by emergency crews — including Greensboro Fire and Guilford County EMS — he was pronounced dead at about 5:20 p.m.

The names of all individuals involved have reportedly been identified, though police say the investigation remains active and no further information has been released at this time. Investigators have not yet disclosed a motive, and they urge anyone with information to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.

Nickerson’s death marks the 36th homicide in Greensboro this year — a grim milestone highlighting the growing tide of violence in the city.

To those who knew him, Delorean — “Abg Reddevil” — was more than a name. He was described as warm, loyal, and full of personality — someone whose laughter could lift heavy days, whose honesty and confidence made people feel seen and respected. Friends say his presence had a way of making you feel welcomed immediately, a friend in the truest sense.

Family members, still reeling, have shared memories of his vibrant energy, his kindness, and the strength of the bonds he formed with people across his life. His passing has left a void — one not easily filled — and sorrow that lingers in every corner of his community.

As friends and family grieve, they cling tightly to the memories he leaves behind. In their hearts, “Abg Reddevil” will live on — remembered for his spirit, his bonds, and the impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
