A 15-year-old boy from West Richland is now in custody, accused of killing 16-year-old Alexander Carcamo in a December 3 shooting at an apartment complex on West 10th Avenue in Kennewick.

Police say a multi-agency investigation — involving local law enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation — led detectives to identify the juvenile as the primary suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued after evidence and leads pointed in his direction.

On the evening of December 9, officers traced the suspect to a home in Union Gap. Two search warrants — one at the Union Gap residence on West Pine Street and another at a home on Summitview Road in Cowiche — were executed. Police found the teenager inside the Union Gap house and arrested him without incident. Firearms recovered from both locations were seized as evidence.

The suspect was transported to Kennewick and booked into the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center on a first-degree murder charge.

At the same time, officers arrested a 20-year-old, Andres Medina‑Garcia, found in the same Union Gap residence. Though he was not linked to the December 3 shooting, Medina-Garcia is believed to be involved in recent burglaries at local businesses — including Hubby’s Pizza and Summer’s Hub in Kennewick. He was taken to Yakima County Jail on unrelated charges.

According to initial reports, officers responded around 7:22 p.m. on December 3 to a call about an active shooting at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, they found 16-year-old Carcamo with gunshot wounds. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Carcamo died at the scene.

Investigators canvassed the area, collected evidence, and conducted follow-up interviews. The victim’s family has been notified, and police are urging anyone with additional information to call their tip line or submit anonymous information online.
