Charlotte, N.C. — On a quiet Thursday evening that has now turned into a family’s worst nightmare, 31-year-old Frezja Matisse Baker disappeared without a trace after tending to everyday errands, leaving behind a community in shock and a 2-year-old son waiting for his mother that never came.

Baker was last seen on December 4, 2025, just before 10 p.m. in the Lincoln Heights area of Charlotte, after dropping her young son off at his grandparents’ home following a dentist appointment, according to her family and police. At 9:52 p.m., she was spotted near 1323 Lasalle Street in her gray-blue 2004 Honda Accord bearing a South Carolina temporary license plate (HBL5984A), which has also vanished.

Roughly 38 minutes after that sighting, Baker phoned her brother around 10:30 p.m. to say she was “about an hour away.” That was the last anyone heard from her — no missed calls, no texts, no social media check-ins. Her phone now goes straight to voicemail, and her loved ones are frantic with worry.

Friends and relatives describe her as a devoted mother who would never willingly abandon her child. That deep concern transformed into fear when days passed with no sign of her. In heartfelt interviews with local outlets, close friend Peaches Johnson recalled that Baker called her son every day and that the sudden silence was wildly out of character.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Baker was last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with “Panthers” on the chest, dark leggings, white shoes, and carrying a black purse with a gold strap. Police have stressed that this is an active missing persons investigation and have circulated her description widely in hopes someone will come forward with information.

Family members tell reporters they believe Baker was last seen with a man known to them as “Nuna,” though authorities have not officially identified or confirmed his involvement at this time. Some community members have even reported seeing her earlier that night at a Cook Out on West Sugar Creek Road and at a Quick N E-Z Food Mart on Lasalle Street, but nothing has panned out to explain what happened after her phone call.

As the search continues into its second week, flyers have been distributed throughout Charlotte and nearby towns, while loved ones patrol streets, knock on doors, and plead with anyone who might have seen Baker or her vehicle to come forward. The police have asked that anyone with potential information call 911 immediately — every tip, no matter how small, could be crucial.

Her disappearance has gripped local residents, sparking an outpouring of support and shared concern on social media, with many urging broader awareness and daily prayers for her safe return. At the heart of it all is her little boy, waiting for the mom who said she’d be home soon — but never arrived.
