GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A tight-knit community in Hall County remains on edge as search teams continue their urgent efforts to find 28-year-old Zdena Janderova, who was reported missing Tuesday evening, sparking worry and an outpouring of concern from neighbors, friends and family.

Investigators from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office say Janderova was last seen around 8 p.m. on December 16 in the 1200 block of Overland Park Drive — a quiet residential area that has now become the focal point of an expansive search. Authorities have not released details of what led to her disappearance, but they have described her as about 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing around 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black jacket and black shoes at the time she was last seen.

Friends and loved ones describe Zdena as warm-hearted and vibrant — someone who lit up conversations with laughter and had plans for the holidays that now wait in painful limbo. Since reports of her disappearance emerged, social media posts, neighborhood chats and community groups have been filled with heartfelt pleas for information and hopeful messages urging her to come home safe.

Law enforcement has been methodical in its outreach. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office posted a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert through social media and local outlets, urging anyone who may have seen Zdena in the hours after her last sighting to step forward. Phone lines at the sheriff’s office and emergency dispatch have been busy with tips and questions from concerned residents and visitors passing through the area.

Despite cold nights and the emotional strain on those closest to her, the search has not let up. Deputies, volunteers, and search crews have traversed wooded lots, local trails and every corner of the neighborhood near Overland Park Drive, stopping occasionally to speak with residents and follow up on potential sightings. While authorities have not confirmed any credible leads publicly, they continue to appeal to the public for help, especially from anyone who may have dashcam footage, phone video, or even the smallest clue from the time around her disappearance.

Family members have been silent publicly, choosing to maintain privacy during this distressing time. But close friends say her loved ones are holding on to hope — pushing forward with prayer vigils, flyer drops, and community walks in chilly morning light. Someone, they believe, must know something.

As night falls and lights from patrol cars crisscross streets, the broader Gainesville community stands in quiet solidarity — hoping that the next phone call, text message or passing driver might hold the key to bringing Zdena Janderova home. If you have any information that could help locate her, authorities urge you to call 911 or the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 536-8812, option 8.
