Westminster, Colorado – Early Saturday morning, a routine sunrise was replaced by grief when 28-year-old Jeremiah Hermosa was discovered dead in the parking lot of Wolff Run Park. Police and neighbors alike have been shaken by the sudden and violent loss, as authorities continue to piece together what led to this tragic event.

Just after 7:00 a.m., officers from the Westminster Police Department were called to the scene at 4705 W. 76th Ave., where a passerby had reported a person lying face down in the Wolff Run Park parking area. When officers arrived, they found Jeremiah unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors say they were startled awake around 2:00 a.m. by the sound of gunshots echoing through the quiet streets. Some reported hearing four to five rapid shots, then silence. A dark-colored, newer-model sedan was seen speeding away from the park not long after the sounds. Those residents, however, did not contact police at the time, believing it might be unrelated or a false alarm.

Police have confirmed that this is now an active homicide investigation. Detectives are urging anyone who lives near the park or was in the area early Saturday to check surveillance cameras, doorbell footage or dash cams for anything between 1:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Authorities believe that information could provide crucial leads in identifying a suspect or understanding what happened.

Friends and family have been struggling to process the loss of Jeremiah, describing him as warm-hearted, generous, and full of dreams for the future. Those closest to him say he was someone who made people feel seen and valued, and that his sudden departure has left a void in their lives that words can barely touch.

In the quiet moments of reflection around Westminster, his loved ones are holding onto the memories he created: laughter shared on summer evenings, conversations that lingered long after they should have, and the small kindnesses that became unforgettable. They remember him not for the way he died, but for the way he lived.

The Westminster Police Department continues to ask the public for help, emphasizing that no piece of information is too small if it could bring clarity to how Jeremiah’s life was taken. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are pledging transparency and urging community members to come forward if they have anything that might help.

In the coming days, friends and family plan to honor Jeremiah’s life in ways that reflect his spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. His story, marked by love and sudden loss, has reminded the community how fragile life can be, and how important it is to cherish each moment with those we hold dear.
