A young boy in Alexandria, Louisiana, is recovering after being shot by a friend. The incident happened on December 6th, and police believe it may have been intentional.
Tre’Michael, who is 9 years old, was with a 10-year-old friend when he was shot. Police were called to the scene and Tre’Michael was quickly taken to a hospital.
His mom, Lakisha Ledguies, said that after the tubes were removed and he could talk, Tre’Michael told her, “Mama, Mama, he shot me on purpose.”
At first, police thought the shooting might have been an accident. But after looking into it more, they now think it was done on purpose.
The 10-year-old friend has been arrested. He is accused of hurting Tre’Michael badly and having a handgun even though he’s not old enough. Because he is so young, his name has not been released.
It’s not yet known how the boy got the gun, or if anyone else will be in trouble because of the shooting.
A family member has started a fundraising page to help Tre’Michael with his recovery. The family member says that Tre’Michael is going through a tough time and that his injuries are serious. They shared that he lost a kidney, part of a lung, and his intestines were badly damaged.
The family is thankful for all the support they have received from the community. They said that the prayers and kindness mean a lot to them during this difficult time.
