Tyler Mears Obituary, Cause of Death – It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tyler Mears, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us far too soon at the age of 30 on November 8, 2024. Tyler, a lifelong resident of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on March 16, 1994, to John and Karen Mears, Tyler grew up in Latrobe, where he was a bright, energetic, and caring young man. From an early age, Tyler was known for his infectious smile, warm personality, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He made friends easily and was loved by everyone who crossed his path.
Tyler attended Greater Latrobe High School, where he was an active participant in school activities. His love for sports led him to be a key member of the high school football team, and he was known for his strong work ethic and team-first mentality. He also had a passion for music, playing the guitar and singing in his free time. Whether on the field or with a guitar in his hands, Tyler’s enthusiasm for life was evident to everyone around him.
After high school, Tyler chose to remain close to home, working in various local businesses and quickly becoming a familiar face in the community. Tyler’s outgoing nature made him well-suited for customer service, where he could make connections with people, offering them kindness and a friendly conversation. He worked hard in his career, always striving to provide for himself and those he cared about. Though his professional journey was just beginning, it was clear that Tyler had a bright future ahead of him.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Tyler was deeply committed to his family and friends. He cherished his time with his parents, John and Karen, and his siblings, Jordan and Brooke, often making time to gather for family dinners, holidays, and weekend outings. Tyler’s devotion to his family was unmatched—he had a special bond with his younger siblings, always offering guidance, support, and encouragement. His generosity knew no bounds, and he would go out of his way to help others, whether it was offering a ride to a friend, assisting with household repairs, or just listening when someone needed to talk.
Tyler’s sense of humor was one of his most beloved traits. He had a natural ability to make others laugh, often cracking jokes or telling stories that would leave everyone in stitches. His energy and humor could light up any room, and his friends and family will always remember the sound of his laughter.
Outside of work and family, Tyler was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time fishing, hiking, and camping in the beautiful areas around Latrobe. His appreciation for nature allowed him to find peace and joy in the simple things—whether it was a quiet walk in the woods or a day spent by the lake. He was also a sports fan, with a particular love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Tyler enjoyed watching games with his friends, and he often organized game-day gatherings where he could cheer on his favorite teams with loved ones.
Tyler’s friends will remember him as someone who was always there for them. His loyalty, kindness, and caring nature made him the type of person anyone could count on. Whether it was sharing a meal, going on an impromptu road trip, or offering advice during tough times, Tyler’s presence was always a source of comfort and joy to those around him. He was known for his generous spirit, and his willingness to go above and beyond for those he cared about left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Tyler is survived by his parents, John and Karen Mears, his siblings, Jordan and Brooke, his beloved grandmother, Barbara Mears, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Mears, and his uncle, Richard Mears.
A memorial service to celebrate Tyler’s life will be held on November 14, 2024, at St. James Church in Latrobe at 1:00 PM, with a visitation prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM. Following the service, the family invites friends and loved ones to gather at The Latrobe Country Club for a reception, where they can share memories and support one another during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tyler’s memory to The Latrobe Area Family YMCA, a place that was close to his heart and where he spent many hours volunteering and participating in activities with children and families in the community.
While Tyler’s untimely passing has left a deep void in the lives of all who loved him, his memory will live on in the countless moments of joy he brought to those around him. His love for his family, his sense of humor, and his zest for life will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tyler’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time. Though Tyler is no longer with us, his spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
May he rest in peace.
